Zambia Claim 2-0 Victory Over Togo in AFCON Qualifier
The Chipolopolo turned on the style on Tuesday evening, defeating Togo 2-0 in a Group I 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier played at the Levy Mwanawasa Stadium in Ndola.
Zambia produced a strong performance on home soil, with goals from in-form forward Albert Kangwanda and Elia Mandanji securing a well-deserved victory for the Chipolopolo.
The result sees Zambia move into second place in Group I, behind table toppers Algeria, who have four points.
The victory provides an important boost to Zambia’s qualification campaign after the team suffered a 3-1 defeat to Algeria in their opening Group I fixture.
The Chipolopolo will now turn their attention to their next assignment, with Burundi awaiting in November for back-to-back Group I fixtures.
With the top two teams in the group set to qualify for the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations, Zambia will be looking to maintain their momentum and collect maximum points from their upcoming matches.
The 2027 AFCON will be co-hosted by Uganda, Tanzania and Kenya, with the Chipolopolo continuing their pursuit of a place at the continental showpiece.
