Red Arrows Beat Power Dynamos to Lift 2026 Samuel Zoom Ndhlovu Charity Shield
Red Arrows have lifted the 2026 Samuel Zoom Ndhlovu Charity Shield after defeating league champions Power Dynamos 1-0 in a dramatic encounter at Nkoloma Stadium.
The Airmen secured the season’s curtain-raiser through a late Ackim Mumba free-kick before goalkeeper Charles Kalumba produced the decisive moment by saving a stoppage-time penalty.
Power Dynamos started strongly and controlled much of the opening half, with Salulani Phiri dictating play from midfield while Joshua Mutale, Frederick Mulambia and Chifundo Mphasi tested the Red Arrows defence.
Kalumba was forced into action as early as the 12th minute, making an important save to keep the score level. Power continued to create opportunities, with Mutale coming close again shortly before the break.
Red Arrows coach Chisi Mbewe responded at half-time by introducing Yusuf Saddam Phiri and Angel Lubamba, changes that gave the Airmen greater balance and control.
The breakthrough finally arrived in the 80th minute when Mumba stepped up for a free-kick and produced a superb strike that beat Power goalkeeper Josphat Lilanda.
Power were handed a late opportunity to level after Nickson Mubili brought down Linos Makwaza inside the box, but Kalumba denied Ronel Manyanga from the spot.
The victory gives Red Arrows their first silverware of the new season and another memorable win over Power Dynamos following their previous meeting in the ABSA Cup final.
