Samukonga Expresses Gratitude to Zambia After Medal Heartbreak

Team Zambia sprinter Muzala Samukonga OLY has expressed his heartfelt gratitude to Zambians for their unwavering support following his performance in the Men’s 400m final at the Glasgow 2026 Commonwealth Games.

The defending Commonwealth champion crossed the finish line in 45.61 seconds to place sixth in a fiercely contested final, bringing an end to his reign after winning the gold medal at the Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games. Although he fell short of successfully defending his title, Samukonga’s determination and commitment on the track once again reflected his dedication to representing Zambia at the highest level.

Shortly after the race, the Olympian took to social media to thank the nation for standing by him throughout the competition. In his message, Samukonga acknowledged the overwhelming encouragement he received from fans before and during the Games, expressing appreciation for the continued belief and motivation shown by Zambians.
