Nkana’s Donashano Malama Takes Up Zambia U-20 Physical Trainer Role
Nkana Football Club assistant coach Donashano Malama has been appointed as the Physical Trainer for the Zambia Under-20 Men’s National Team following the unveiling of a new technical bench by the Football Association of Zambia (FAZ).
Malama joins the newly assembled backroom staff led by Perry Mutapa, who has been named head coach of the Junior Chipolopolo ahead of next month’s U-20 Africa Cup of Nations zonal qualifiers in Mauritius.
The appointment marks another milestone in Malama’s coaching career, with the experienced fitness expert expected to play a crucial role in preparing the squad physically for the demanding qualification campaign. His responsibilities will include ensuring the players are in peak condition as Zambia targets qualification for both the U-20 Africa Cup of Nations and the FIFA U-20 World Cup.
FAZ General Secretary Charles Chakatazya said the association has assembled a strong technical team to revive the Under-20 programme and build on Zambia’s proud youth football history. He noted that the immediate objective is to secure qualification for the continental tournament, with the long-term goal of returning Zambia to the FIFA U-20 World Cup.
Malama will work alongside first assistant coach Sipho Mumbi, second assistant Lameck Banda, strikers’ coach Masautso Tembo, goalkeeper coach Mike Songwe Siame, video analyst Zani William Phiri, team manager Mangulenje Mvula, team doctor Dr. Muyunda Mukubesa, physiotherapist Abraham Banda, equipment manager Emmanuel Mbola, security manager Joseph Chanda, and team ambassador James Chamanga.
With preparations now underway, Donashano Malama’s expertise in physical conditioning is expected to be a key asset as Zambia’s Under-20 side looks to make a successful return to continental and global youth football.
