Carol Kanyemba Names 35-Member Zambia U-17 Women Provisional Squad For Ethiopia Qualifiers
Zambia Under-17 Women’s National Team coach Carol Kanyemba has named a 35-member provisional squad ahead of the final round of the FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup qualifiers against Ethiopia.
Kanyemba has handed a debut call-up to England-based Asher Mwamba, who is on the books of Brighton & Hove Albion, while maintaining the core of the squad that featured in the earlier qualifying rounds.
Zambia will host Ethiopia on 4 July at Levy Mwanawasa Stadium in Ndola before travelling to Addis Ababa for the return leg a week later. The winner over two legs will secure a place at the 2026 FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup, which will be hosted by Morocco.
The team is expected to set up camp in Ndola on Tuesday as FAZ looks to give the squad enough preparation time ahead of the crucial qualifier.
The 10th edition of the FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup will take place in Morocco from 17 October to 7 November 2026, with 24 teams set to compete for the global title.
Zambia has qualified for the last two editions of the tournament, in 2024 in the Dominican Republic and 2025 in Morocco, and will be aiming to secure a third consecutive appearance.
