Faz Bans Young Green Eagles FC & Suspend Kashikishi Warriors

On 22nd June 2021, FAZ Has banned Young Green Eagles from using Khosa Stadium following violations of Covid-19 protocols and has suspended Kashikishi Warriors for wide ranging breaches of the FAZ Disciplinary Code and constitution.

“The Football Association of Zambia (FAZ) has provisionally suspended Eden University National Division One side Kashikishi Warriors following wide ranging breaches of the FAZ Disciplinary Code and constitution.

FAZ has also provisionally banned Young Green Eagles Football Club from using Khosa Stadium for their home matches following multiple breaches of the Covid-19 protocols.
In a letter to already relegated Kashikishi Warriors, FAZ General Secretary Adrian Kashala says investigations on the matter had been instituted with a provisional report from the match officials and evidence received warranting an immediate action.

“The gravity of the matter has warranted immediate action whilst the full disciplinary process has been invoked. In the interim Kashikishi Warriors has been suspended from all football activities. We are suspending participation of all registered officials of Kashikishi Warriors from taking part in any football activity until further notice,” Kashala says.

The match involving Kashikishi Warriors and Trident FC was abandoned following attacks on referee Joseph Nyirenda who was taken to the hospital after being left unconscious.
Kashala says some of the activities of Nyirenda’s assailants border on criminality.
FAZ has banned Khosa Stadium from hosting matches until further notice.

Kashala says Nkana Football Club’s case against Young Green Eagles for the alleged use of an ineligible player during the two sides’ clash was adjudicated upon and closed.

“The case involving Green Eagles goalkeeper Phillip Phiri who was an unused substitute in the game has been closed. Young Green Eagles applied for a waiver as their first-choice goalkeeper was away with the Senior Men’s Football Team while the other goalkeeper available was injured prompting for a special plea that was granted,” he said.

Kashala says everything was in place for the conclusion of the 2020/2021 season that closes this weekend.

“We are looking forward to the exciting closure of the 2020/2021 season, of course being conscious that we are in a period of National Mourning. The FAZ Eden University National Division One League closes on Saturday while the Super League will end on Sunday with all matches kicking off at the same time. Everything is in place to ensure that everything goes on smoothly,” he said.”
