Dynamos FC Selects Orlando Stadium for Continental Clash with Zesco United

In an exciting development for Zimbabwean football fans, Dynamos Football Club, one of Zimbabwe’s most celebrated teams, has selected Orlando Stadium in Johannesburg, South Africa, as their home ground for the upcoming continental clash against Zambian giants Zesco United Football Club.

This decision was confirmed yesterday by Dynamos’ executive chairman, Moses Maunganidze.

“Orlando Stadium will be advantageous to us as Dynamos,” Maunganidze stated confidently. “We know there are a lot of Zimbabweans who love to watch Dynamos in action and are based in South Africa.

We have communicated with our parent body, ZIFA, who are now handling the logistics. Given that we will be hosting Zesco on a weekend, we hope to see thousands of Zimbabweans based in South Africa making their way to watch us play.”

The choice of Orlando Stadium is a strategic move aimed at capitalizing on the strong support base Dynamos enjoys among the Zimbabwean diaspora in South Africa.

This large contingent of passionate fans is expected to create a vibrant and supportive atmosphere, providing the team with a significant home advantage.

Maunganidze also revealed that Dynamos had considered other venues, including the National Heroes Stadium in Zambia. However, the draw against Zesco United necessitated a different approach.

“If we had not been lined up against a Zambian team, we could have settled for the National Heroes Stadium in Lusaka since the Zambian capital is geographically closer to Harare than any other capital in the SADC region,” he explained.

In light of potential contingencies, Dynamos has made provisions for alternative venues.

“As a backup plan, we have included both approved stadiums in Zambia—the National Heroes Stadium and Levy Mwanawasa Stadium—as well as venues in Botswana and Mozambique.

This is in case we fail to secure Orlando Stadium or FNB Stadium,” Maunganidze hinted.

The decision to play at Orlando Stadium is seen as a bold and exciting move, highlighting Dynamos’ commitment to leveraging their extensive fan base and creating the best possible environment for their players to succeed.

Fans of both Dynamos and Zesco United are eagerly awaiting what promises to be an electrifying encounter between two of Southern Africa’s football powerhouses.
