Clatous Chama Confirms Well-being: I’m Alright
Tanzania-based forward Clatous Chama has confirmed his readiness to represent Zambia. The 32-year-old, recently recovered from injury, expressed disappointment at being excluded from Avram Grant’s initial 27-man squad. Chama, alongside Fashion Sakala, based in Saudi Arabia, were notable absentees from Grant’s selection.
Setting the record straight, Chama clarified his absence was solely due to injury, asserting his eagerness to contribute to national duties. He emphasized his fitness, urging observers not to doubt his commitment when witnessing his club appearances.
Lameck Banda, plying his trade in Italy for Lecce, also misses out due to injury following a surgical procedure. The final squad of 27 players, subject to further reduction, is poised for an international camp ahead of crucial upcoming fixtures.
Currently placed second in the standings, Zambia shares equal points with table-toppers Morocco, who hold a superior goal difference. Niger follows closely in third place with an identical points tally.
The impending clash between Zambia and Morocco in Agadir on June 7 sets the stage for a pivotal encounter, followed by the showdown with the Taifa Stars four days later at the Levy Mwanawasa Stadium.
