Grant overlooks in-form Fashion Sakala for World Cup qualifiers

Chipolopolo Boys coach Avram Grant has opted not to include Fashion Sakala in his squad for the upcoming back-to-back World Cup qualifiers.

Despite Fashion Sakala’s impressive record of 18 goals for Al Feiha in the Saudi Pro League, the 27-year-old forward will not be joining the team. Additionally, Tanzania-based forward Clatous Chama has also been left out, while veteran defender Kabaso Chongo has been called back into the squad.

Lameck Banda, who plays for Lecce in Italy, is sidelined due to injury following surgery, and Clatous Chama misses out after recently recovering from an injury.

The initial squad of 27 players, subject to further reduction, is expected to undergo an international camp ahead of the crucial fixtures.

Currently placed second in the standings, tied on points with leaders Morocco but with a slightly inferior goal difference, Zambia faces Morocco in Agadir on June 7 before hosting Tanzania in Ndola five days later.
