Zambia falls three spots in the most recent Coca-Cola FIFA Rankings
The Zambia Men’s national team has dropped three places in the latest Coca-Cola FIFA Rankings, now standing at 87th in the world, down from 84th.
This decline follows their performance at the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations, where they managed just two points in three games, finishing second in group F behind Morocco and DR Congo.
Zambia has been overtaken by Jordan (up 17 places to 70th), Equatorial Guinea (up 9 places to 79th), and Bahrain (up 4 places to 82nd). Avram Grant’s team recorded a 1-1 draw with DR Congo and Tanzania, before losing 1-0 to Morocco in their final group game.
Meanwhile, in the top ten teams of the FIFA/Coca-Cola Men’s World Ranking, there has been little change. However, further down the standings, there has been significant movement following the matches played in the CAF Africa Cup of Nations and the AFC Asian Cup.
Côte d’Ivoire (39th, up 10) benefits from their continental triumph on home soil, while Nigeria (28th, up 14) also makes significant strides.
Angola (93rd, up 24) is the biggest climber, having been ousted by Nigeria in the quarter-finals. Qatar (37th, up 21) earns the highest points tally (92.04 points) after successfully defending their Asian Cup title.
Other notable climbers include Jordan (70th, up 17), Thailand (101st, up 12), Equatorial Guinea (79th, up 9), South Africa (58th, up 8), Cabo Verde (65th, up 8), Namibia (107th, up 8), and Mali (47th, up 4).
Qatar’s ascent into uncharted territory is joined by Senegal (17th, up 3) and Tajikistan (99th, up 7), both achieving their highest-ever rankings. The next FIFA/Coca-Cola Men’s World Ranking will be published on 4 April.
Argentina remains the leader, with no teams entering or leaving the top 10. In total, 125 matches were played (including 2 in 2023), with Congo DR, Côte d’Ivoire, and Nigeria playing the most matches (8 each).
The biggest move by points was Qatar (up 92.04 points), while the biggest move by places was Angola (up 24 ranks).
Vietnam (down 41.00 points) and Guinea-Bissau and India (down 15 ranks) experienced the biggest drops in points and places, respectively. There are no newly ranked teams, and Eritrea is no longer ranked due to inactivity.
