ZAF Commander Promotes Chisi, Arrows Players
Zambia Air Force Commander Oscar Nyoni has promoted the Red Arrows technical bench, led by Chisi Mbewe, and the players to higher ranks.
At a ceremony held at ZAF Headquarters in Lusaka on Monday, Lt. General Nyoni announced the promotions. Chisi Mbewe has been elevated to Warrant Officer Class Two, while his assistant Kalililo Kakonje and the rest of the bench are now Flight Sergeants.
The players have also received promotions, with their new ranks ranging from Flight Sergeants to Sergeants and Corporals.
“Because you are Champions, double Champions for that matter, as your Commander, I recognize your outstanding performance.
Subsequently, I am pleased to promote each player and member of the technical bench to the next higher ranks,” said Lt. Gen. Nyoni.
“These promotions are with immediate effect and are a true testament to your hard work and dedication, which have brought honor to the entire Air Force,” he added.
“Congratulations to the entire Red Arrows Football Club. As you prepare for the challenges ahead, including defending the MTN Super League and ABSA Cup titles and excelling in all future competitions, know that the Air Force Command stands firmly behind you,” the Commander assured.
“With success comes responsibility. I urge each team member to remain focused, loyal, and disciplined, both on and off the field.
Financial prudence and good health are equally crucial aspects that contribute to sustained success, especially as a sports personality.”
Red Arrows won a league and cup double last season and are Zambia’s sole representatives in the CAF Champions League.
Goalkeeper Charles Kalumba, Ricky Banda, Brian Chilimina, and Saddam Yusuf Phiri have been named in Zambia’s Cosafa Cup squad. Chisi Mbewe will also be in charge of the team for the tournament.
