Promising Young Referees Applauded by Football Association of Zambia

The Football Association of Zambia (FAZ) has commended two young referees for their outstanding performance at the African Schools Football Championship | COSAFA Qualifier held in Harare, Zimbabwe in 2023.

Jacinta Makasa, a 17-year-old referee from Kasama, officiated several matches, including the Boys’ third and fourth fixtures. Meanwhile, 18-year-old Rafael Mbotela served as the central referee in the Girls’ final, overseeing South Africa’s 3-1 victory over Botswana.

Reuben Kamanga, the General Secretary of FAZ, along with FAZ Referees Manager Aziph Banda, warmly welcomed the talented duo. Kamanga expressed pride in their achievements and offered words of encouragement, saying, “We are proud of your success at the schools championship, and I believe you are on the right path. Continue working hard, and surely you’ve started your career early, and you can only get to great heights.”

The acknowledgment and support from FAZ reflect the commitment to nurturing and recognizing young talent in football officiating in Zambia. The association encourages the referees to continue their hard work and dedication to reach greater heights in their careers.
