Make way for Freddy Michael as Andy Boyeli steps aside

Last season, the Congolese striker Andy Bobwa Boyeli captivated fans with his remarkable goal-scoring abilities, securing 18 goals during the 2022/2023 Campaign. His stellar performance earned him the prestigious Golden Boot, and he was honored as the Player of the Year at the MTN Awards gala on June 9, 2023, held at Garden Court in Kitwe.

In contrast, this season, Boyeli has conspicuously faded from the limelight, not even making the top ten list of goal scorers. Stepping into the spotlight is Ivorian striker Michael Freddy Kouablan, who has become the new sensation with his prolific goal-scoring talent.

Freddy Michael has showcased exceptional form in the current season, leading the goal-scoring charts. With an impressive tally of 12 goals in 16 games, he has outpaced his competitors. The Green Eagles forward has a four-goal lead over FC MUZA’s Andrew Phiri, who holds the second position with 8 goals.

Kouablan’s journey with the Kawale Boys began at the commencement of the 2023/24 season, having joined from Angolan side Desportivo da Huila. Currently on a five-match scoring streak, his recent goal against Red Arrows has further solidified his reputation. Notably, he has scored seven goals in his last five games in the MTN Super League.

The towering forward is set to continue his goal-scoring spree as the Choma-based team prepares to face Nkwazi at the Independence Stadium this weekend. Kouablan’s impact on Zambian football has been nothing short of spectacular, and the anticipation is high to see the final goal tally at the end of the season.

Given his scintillating form, it comes as no surprise that several prominent clubs in the MTN Super League have begun expressing interest and making inquiries about the Ivorian striker. For now, the Kawale Boys can relish in the moment, savoring Kouablan’s goal-scoring prowess as they aspire to secure a spot in the ABSA Cup.
