Lubambo Musonda Makes Transition to Germany
Chipolopolo winger Lubambo Musonda has made a move to German club FC Magdeburg from AC Horsens.
FC Magdeburg competes in the 2. Bundesliga, the second tier of German football, and they confirmed the transfer via their social media channels.
Last season, Musonda, primarily a left full-back, was loaned to Silkeborg IF, where he featured in 17 games in the Danish Superliga and seven games in the Superliga championship round.
During his time there, Musonda and his team clinched the Oddset Cup with a 1-0 victory in the final against Aarhus GF.
The head coach and Sporting Director of FC Magdeburg expressed their satisfaction with the acquisition of the seasoned Zambian international.
Otmar Schork, the Sporting Director, remarked, “With Lubambo, we are acquiring an internationally experienced player who can provide flexibility on the wings.
We closely monitored his performance last season and are delighted he has chosen us.” Christian Titz, the Head Coach, added, “Lubambo brings experience, pace, and dribbling skills to our wing positions.”
Born on March 1, 1995, in Lusaka, Zambia, Lubambo Musonda began his football journey with National Assembly FC and Power Dynamos FC in Zambia.
His professional career took off when he joined Armenian first division club Ulisses Yerewan in August 2014, where he made 13 appearances and scored two goals.
He later moved to Gandzasar Kapan in Armenia, amassing 98 appearances in the first division, with 18 goals and 25 assists. In 2018, Musonda won the Armenian Cup with his team.
In January 2019, Musonda signed with Polish first division club Slask Wroclaw, where he made 55 appearances and contributed four assists in the Ekstraklasa, along with one appearance in the Europa Conference League qualification.
He then moved to Danish club AC Horsens in August 2021, initially helping them secure promotion to the first division and later featuring in the Superliga and relegation round before being loaned to Silkeborg IF in August 2023.
Throughout his career, Musonda has represented Zambia in 48 international matches, scoring two goals and providing two assists.
