Leicester City’s Top Spot Under Threat After Third Consecutive Defeat Despite Daka’s Return

Leicester City‘s position at the top of the English Championship table is under threat following their third consecutive defeat, this time at the hands of Queens Park Rangers at the King Power Stadium. Despite the return of Patson Daka to the starting lineup, the Foxes failed to find their winning form, succumbing to a 2-1 loss.

Daka, who had been an unused substitute in Leicester’s recent FA Cup victory over Bournemouth, started the match against QPR but couldn’t inspire his team to victory. Despite Benjamin Nelson scoring a consolation goal for Leicester in the 60th minute, they found themselves two goals down before the hour mark.

The introduction of veteran striker Jamie Vardy in place of Daka in the 61st minute failed to turn the tide as QPR held on to their lead and secured a crucial away victory.

This string of defeats has seen Leicester’s once-comfortable nine-point lead at the top of the table shrink to just three points, with Ipswich Town now hot on their heels with 75 points compared to Leicester’s 78.

Manager Enzo Maresca faces a significant challenge to rediscover the winning formula ahead of their next match against Sunderland. Despite Sunderland’s own struggles with a four-game losing streak, Leicester cannot afford to underestimate any opponent. It presents a crucial opportunity for Leicester to regain their momentum in the race for promotion back to the Premier League.
