Lawrence Mulenga to start over Kalumba and Nsabata

Tonight, the Chipolopolo Boys face Morocco in their third 2026 World Cup qualifier at Stade Adrar in Agadir. Coach Avram Grant aims to secure a positive result to keep Zambia’s World Cup dreams alive. He plans to field the strongest lineup from his squad.

Power Dynamos goalkeeper Lawrence Mulenga is set to start ahead of Toaster Nsabata and Charles Kalumba. Mulenga previously started in a friendly against Cameroon and the 2-1 loss to Niger before the 2023 AFCON.

He has become the first-choice goalkeeper for the team, playing in all three group games of the recent AFCON.

Nsabata, the second choice, was initially favored by Grant but made a critical error in a match against Likuena, leading to a goal.

Despite this, he has had strong performances for the team and was the clear choice at one point. With over ten years of experience, Nsabata has played 22 games for Chipolopolo, keeping five clean sheets.

Charles Kalumba, aged 27, was identified by former coach Milutin ‘Micho’ Sredojevic as a potential first-choice goalkeeper for the 2020 CHAN tournament.

Although he made mistakes during the tournament, he has since improved and won his third cap against Iraq.

Currently, Zambia is second in Group E after defeating Congo Brazzaville 4-2 but losing 2-1 to Niger. The match against Morocco kicks off at 21:00 hours (Zambian Time) at the Stade Adrar in Agadir.
