Lameck Banda’s Assist Not Enough as Roma Secures Late Victory Over Lecce
In a thrilling Serie A clash, Zambian international Lameck Banda provided an assist for US Lecce, but it couldn’t prevent them from suffering a heartbreaking 2-1 loss to Jose Mourinho’s Roma during Week 11 of the Serie A on Sunday.
The match had its share of early drama when Roma was awarded a penalty in the 5th minute after a foul on Paulo Dybala, but Romelu Lukaku missed the spot-kick. Lecce then took the lead in the 72nd minute, thanks to a goal by Pontus Almqvist, who benefited from an assist by Banda.
However, the joy was short-lived as Banda was substituted from the game just two minutes after providing the crucial assist. Lecce appeared to be on course for their first away win of the season, but Roma staged a remarkable comeback, scoring two goals in added time.
Sardar Azmoun equalized in the 92nd minute, and Lukaku netted the winning goal in the 94th minute. The result was a disappointing one for Lecce, who have now endured seven games without a victory in all competitions
