Midfield maestro Kelvin Mubanga Kampamba has secured the prestigious ZESCO United Player of the Month accolade for October, marking his second consecutive triumph. Affectionately known as ‘Kemuka,’ Mubanga also clinched the award in September.
In a tightly contested race, Mubanga outshone defenders Dennis Nya and Shemmy Mayembe to emerge victorious.
ZESCO United officially announced the news via social media, emphasizing that the fans played a crucial role in determining the award recipient through their votes.
The official statement read: “You voted, and we have a winner for the Atlas Mara October Player of the Month award. Congratulations to Kelvin Mubanga Kampamba for securing the award for the second consecutive month.
Thanks to all who participated in voting. We urge more of you who did not participate to vote in numbers next time.”
Mubanga’s stellar performance included a crucial goal that earned Zega Mambo a valuable point against Kansanshi Dynamos in an away match in Chingola. As part of the recognition, Mubanga is set to receive a K5,000 cheque from the sponsors, Atlas Mara.
Beyond his club success, Mubanga was a key player in Coach Avram Grant’s squad during the recent back-to-back World Cup qualifiers against Congo Brazzaville and Niger.
