Nali Expresses Gratitude to Those in Her Recovery Journey
Copper Queens’ goalkeeper, Hazel Natasha Nali, has shared a heartfelt message expressing her gratitude to everyone involved in her journey to recovery after sustaining a knee injury just weeks before the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup.
Regrettably, Nali was forced to withdraw from the World Cup due to the injury, an unfortunate development just days before the global tournament kicked off in New Zealand.
The setback occurred prior to the historic 3-2 international friendly win over Germany, where the 2022 WAFCON hero suffered a knee injury, resulting in laxity in the Medial Collateral Ligament and a complete tear of the Anterior Cruciate Ligament (ACL). Subsequently, Nali underwent surgery in Christchurch, New Zealand, on August 16.
Reflecting on the challenging period, Nali revealed that she had almost lost hope of returning to football or walking properly on both legs.
However, she expressed deep gratitude to various individuals and entities who played crucial roles in her recovery.
Nali extended her thanks to Dr. Mwandila, the High Commissioner in New Zealand, Dr. Elias Mushya, the Government of the Republic of Zambia, the Ministry of Sport, FAZ, her family, and the fans who stood by her throughout this challenging journey.
In a comprehensive statement, Nali conveyed her appreciation for the support she received during her time in New Zealand, emphasizing the immense impact of the care and love she experienced.
She singled out Dr. Mwandila and the family for playing the role of guardian angels, providing her with a home during a difficult period.
Acknowledging the contributions of High Commissioner Dr. Elias Munshya, Nali stated that words could not suffice to express her gratitude for the kindness, efforts, and words of encouragement during her recovery and rehabilitation.
She deemed the experience in New Zealand as awesome and worthwhile, expressing her intention to continue the next phase of rehabilitation back home in Zambia.
In conclusion, Nali expressed immense hope for reigniting her career on the field within a feasible timeframe. She extended her gratitude to the Zambian Government, Sports Minister Mr.
Elvis Nkandu, the Football Association of Zambia, the Ministry, and the people of Zambia for their unwavering support and encouragement.
Lastly, she thanked her loving supporters and family for the countless messages and calls that served as a source of motivation and encouragement throughout her journey
