Janny Pays Tribute to Chikotesha

Former FIFA referee Janny Sikazwe commends Diana Chikotesha for her outstanding performance at the recently concluded Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON), stating that she has brought pride to the country.

Sikazwe, Zambia’s most decorated match official, emphasizes the importance of capacity building to cultivate more female referees capable of officiating matches at both continental and global levels, citing Chikotesha as an exemplary role model.

He advocates for providing technical support to young female match officials to nurture talents akin to Diana Chikotesha.

Speaking to ZNBC Sport News via telephone, Sikazwe highlights the necessity for Zambian referees to enhance their fitness levels.

Meanwhile, the Football Association of Zambia (FAZ) assures its commitment to supporting more female referees through dedicated programs. FAZ Communications Manager Sydney Mungala affirms that this initiative aims to ensure the continuity of producing referees of Chikotesha’s caliber.

In the AFCON final, Diana Chikotesha served as the second assistant referee as Ivory Coast clinched the 2023 championship title by defeating Nigeria 2-1.
