Forest Rangers Defeat Power Dynamos 3-1 in Charity Shield Opener

 

In an exciting start to the season, Forest Rangers secured a 3-1 victory over defending champions Power Dynamos in the Carling Black Label Zambia Charity Shield match.

The game kicked off with Power Dynamos taking an early lead as Andy Boyeli found the net in the 14th minute with a close-range finish. However, Forest Rangers quickly responded, with Wisdom Libamba Moyela leveling the score just ten minutes later with a powerful shot.

Forest Rangers continued their momentum, taking the lead in the 40th minute as Gerald Simusokwe headed in a corner from Eric Chomba. Just before halftime, they extended their lead to 3-1, with Lazarus Chishimba capitalizing on a rebound after Power Dynamos’ goalkeeper Lawrence Mulenga failed to handle a shot from Moyela Libamba.

Despite their efforts to get back into the game, Power Dynamos couldn’t overcome Forest Rangers’ lead. Fredrick Mulambia had a notable chance for Power Dynamos but couldn’t find the target. Forest Rangers held on to secure the victory.

The match also saw some debuts, with Jack Chirwa making his debut for Forest Rangers by coming on for Monday Bwalya in the 25th minute. On the other hand, Felix Banda and Obed Masumbuko made their debuts for Power Dynamos in the 63rd minute, replacing Joe Banda and Eric Chomba.


This victory sets a promising tone for Forest Rangers as they start their season, having secured the Carling Black Label Zambia Charity Shield title.
