Eight Teams Compete for Spot in 2024 CAF Women’s Champions League | COSAFA Qualifier
Eight teams will compete for a coveted spot in the continental finals of the 2024 CAF Women’s Champions League | COSAFA Qualifier, scheduled to take place in Blantyre, Malawi, from August 15–24. The winner of this tournament will join the two-time champions Mamelodi Sundowns, who have automatically qualified to defend their African title.
Making their debut in the regional tournament is the University of the Western Cape, runners-up in South Africa’s HOLLYWOODBETS Super League, replacing Sundowns. The Green Buffaloes, who won the trophy in 2022, return as one of the favourites, along with the Young Buffaloes from Eswatini and Namibia’s Ongos FC.
Malawi’s Ascent Soccer Academy, also making their debut, will hope to leverage home ground advantage. Herentals Queens from Zimbabwe and Gaborone United from Botswana will also be debuting, while União Desportiva de Lichinga represents Mozambique.
The teams will be drawn into two pools of four, with the top two in each group advancing to the semifinals. Only the winner will earn a place in the finals to join Sundowns as representatives from the Southern African region.
