COSAFA to Introduce VAR in June

The organization has acquired the VAR equipment, which will debut in the later stages of the men’s senior COSAFA Cup scheduled for June.

Following a successful trial run at the COSAFA Women’s Championship last year, the objective is to incorporate VAR into all future COSAFA events.

Moreover, the system will play a crucial role in referee training, as both CAF and FIFA now require licensed VAR operators at their respective events.

In a related development, Zambia clinched a record seventh COSAFA Cup title by defeating Lesotho 1-0 in the tournament final last year.

This victory propelled Chipolopolo ahead of arch-rivals Zimbabwe, who have six titles, on the all-time COSAFA Cup winners list.
