We found good facilities, they pushed us to the limit, and the team is in high spirits,” stated Banda.

Zambia concluded their camp in Saudi Arabia and has now relocated to San Pedro in Ivory Coast, where Group F matches will be held as part of the AFCON tournament. Banda expressed satisfaction with a practice match against Cameroon during the camp, emphasizing its value as a test against a strong opponent. The match ended in a 1-1 draw, with Patson Daka scoring for Zambia.

Reflecting on the Cameroon match, Banda emphasized its importance in identifying areas for improvement. “It helped us a lot and showed us where we need to improve going forward,” he remarked.

While feeling ready for the tournament, Banda stressed the significance of taking each game as it comes, with the immediate focus on winning the opening match against DR Congo. “I would say we are very ready. The vibe is already there, we will keep a closer eye on each game, but the most important thing is our opening game. We want to win to start on a high note,” he stated.

Banda also urged fans to continue their unwavering support for the team and expressed hope to see supporters in the stadium when playing in Ivory Coast. The AFCON tournament kicks off on January 17th, and Zambia is set to face DR Congo in their opening match.
