Chipolopolo Boys Skipper Lubambo Musonda Shines as Silkeborg IF Secures 2-0 Victory Over FC København in Cup Clash
In a remarkable display, Chipolopolo Boys skipper Lubambo Musonda played a pivotal role in Silkeborg IF’s impressive 2-0 win against FC København in the first leg of their Oddset Pokalen Cup quarter-final tie on Wednesday.
Musonda, who missed Silkeborg’s earlier league win over FC København, delivered a convincing performance as a left full-back, contributing to both the defensive solidity and offensive efforts of his team. Silkeborg secured a comfortable 2-goal advantage to take into the second leg of the quarter-final.
The breakthrough for Silkeborg came just before halftime, with New Zealand international Callum McCowatt finding the net in the 44th minute. The lead was further extended in the 64th minute, as 23-year-old Danish midfielder Anders Klynge doubled the advantage.
Musonda’s contributions, both defensively and going forward, played a crucial role in securing the victory and a clean sheet for Silkeborg. The second leg will be hosted by Silkeborg at home, where they aim to preserve their two-goal lead and secure a spot in the semifinals of the Oddset Pokalen Cup.
On loan to Silkeborg IF from Hoserns since August 2023, Lubambo Musonda’s performances continue to earn acclaim, and he will be eager to maintain his impressive form as the cup competition progresses. His loan spell with Silkeborg is set to conclude in June 2024.
