Copper Queens Set for Olympic Showdown Against Uganda

The Copper Queens have been pitted against Uganda’s Crested Cranes in the second round of the Los Angeles 2028 Olympic qualifiers.

Thanks to their impressive ranking, Zambia is among 29 teams that have skipped the first round entirely. Now, they’re set to face Uganda across two legs between October 5 and 13, with a ticket to the third round on the line.

The two-time Olympians having graced both Tokyo 2020 and Paris 2024 will then take on either Ghana or the winner of the Mauritius vs. Djibouti showdown.

But first, Ghana must get past Mauritius or Djibouti to keep their hopes alive and set up a potential clash with Zambia or Uganda.

The African qualification journey is a five-round battle, and only the top two teams will earn the right to represent the continent at the Los Angeles Games.

Action kicks off in June with the preliminary round and runs all the way through December 2027, when Africa’s final two Olympic envoys will be decided.
