Barbra Banda, Lungu, Nachula, and Tembo Report to Copper Queens Camp
Foreign-based players have begun to arrive for the crucial Paris Olympics 2024 final round qualifier against Morocco, set for Friday.
Leading the charge is skipper Barbra Banda, who joined the Ndola camp on Sunday evening and has already begun training with the team in preparation for the challenge against the Atlas Lionesses.
Also joining the squad are Kazakhstan-based duo Ireen Lungu and Martha Tembo, as well as Rachel Nachula, who is based in Israel. They all arrived on Monday evening.
The highly anticipated arrival of Rachel Kundananji, the most expensive female football player in history, is expected within the next 48 hours.
Meanwhile, locally based players have been in camp in Ndola for a week already.
Coach Bruce Mwape had earlier announced a 34-member squad for the back-to-back 2024 Paris Olympics qualifier matches against Morocco.
The first leg will see the Copper Queens take on the Atlas Lionesses at 19h00 on Friday, 5 April 2024, before traveling for the away match on 9 April. The winner over two legs will secure one of the two available spots for African nations at the Olympics.
The second slot will be decided between Nigeria and South Africa, completing Africa’s representation at the global event.
