MTN Super League Wednesday Clash Summary
RESULTS: MTN Super League Wednesday Summary
Green Buffaloes stumbled again in the MTN Super League on Wednesday after they let a two-goal lead slip to draw 2-2 at Forest Rangers.
They maintain their six-point lead at the top of the table after second-placed Green Eagles were held to a draw as well, but there will be much disappointment among the Buffaloes players as to how they failed to come away with three points.
The side were 2-0 up inside 35 minutes as Martin Njobvu and Friday Samu scored the goal, a lead they held into the second half. But Zimbabwean forward Thomas Chideu scored a brace to peg back the pacesetters.
Eagles were surprisingly held 1-1 at Kafue Celtic, despite taking the lead early in the second half through Amity Shamende. But the advantage was short-lived as Albert Kangwanda equalized soon afterwards.
Zesco United returned to winning ways with a narrow 1-0 victory at struggling Lusaka Dynamos, Kelvin Kampamba getting the only goal of the game just before halftime.
Defending champions Zesco are now nine points behind Buffaloes, but do have two games in hand.
Nkana FC scored two late goals to come from behind and beat Buildcon 2-1. Tapson Kaseba had given Buildcon the lead, which they held until two minutes into injury-time at the end of the game.
Incredibly, Laison Thole equalized for Nkana, and there was still time for Bwalya Kasonde to grab a sensational winner.
Nkwazi lost their fourth game in a row at lowly Indeni, who rocket off the bottom of the league after their 1-0 win and into 14th. Cephas Handavu for the winner eight minutes from time.
Power Dynamos kept up their excellent recent run with a fifth successive victory, which they had to do the hard way. Bruce Musakanya netted the opener in the first half for the visitors, but a brace of goals from Tranquilin Mwepu swung the tie in Dynamos’ favor.
Finally, Prison Leopards claimed a 2-0 win over Konkola Blades as Conlyde Luchanga and Langson Kapumbu got on the scoresheet.
