Welterweight Boxer Stephen Zimba records His First victory at the 2021 Tokyo Olympics

Welterweight Boxer Stephen Zimba has progressed to the round of 16 after beating Marion Ah Tong by a unanimous points decision.

Zimba took to the ring against the Samoan in the round of 32 fight that was staged this afternoon at the ongoing Tokyo Olympic games.

The Zambian Boxer proved to be strong for his opponent as he started with strong punches and finished clinically in the three rounds bout.

Zimba so far becomes the first Zambian Boxer among the three to progress to the next round at the Olympic games.

Following the victory, the 20-year-old has now recorded five wins and one loss in his sixth career fight after making his debut at the Olympics qualifiers for Africa in Senegal last year.

On Monday Patrick Chinyemba is scheduled to face Australia’s Alex Winwood in the flyweight category while Featherweight fighter Evaristo Mulenga will enter the action in the round of 16 where he will only need to fight twice before entering the medal bracket.
