Daka Makes Posivite Declaration During The Training

Patson Daka arrived at seagrave for his first training with his new City team-mates on friday.

Leicester City signings Patson Daka and Boubakary Soumare are gearing up for their first outings in blue after they started training on Friday.

The duo, signed for a combined £40m from RB Salzburg and Lille respectively, arrived at Seagrave for their first full day on the pitches of City’s headquarters as they began their preparations for the new Premier League campaign, which begins at home to Wolves on August 14.

City supporters could get a glimpse of them in action before then, as, with a week to build their fitness, they could feature next Saturday when City make a short trip to fellow Midlands side Burton Albion for their first pre-season friendly.

With Ryan Bertrand arriving for his first day on Thursday, City now have all three of their summer recruits in training and working towards the new season.

A couple of other players were also spotted in training on Friday, including winger Rachid Ghezzal, who helped Besiktas with the Turkish league and cup double last season and who is very likely to leave the club this summer, and striker George Hirst, who struggled during a spell at Rotherham.

After the session, Daka tweeted to say he was “happy and settled” at Leicester city.

Following a 34-goal season for Salzburg, fans are excited to see the Zambian international in action, and many of those travelling to the Pirelli Stadium, for what is the first away match City supporters can attend in 18 months, will be keen for him to get off the mark.

The City faithful will also be able to attend the fixtures at Wycombe and QPR, with a big crowd expected to be permitted for the Community Shield at Wembley, Manchester City the opponents in the traditional curtain-raiser.

Right now, the games are all going ahead as scheduled and with fans present, even with Covid cases rising around the country. On Friday, the number of daily Covid cases in the UK passed 50,000 for the first time since mid-January.

There have been reports of a Covid ‘outbreak’ at City, but their plans have not changed, and the training ground is still running as usual.
