Kanoute: Patson Daka’s Future Remains Uncertain
Patson Daka’s future remains uncertain, according to his agent Fredric Kanoute, despite the Zambian forward’s pivotal role in Leicester City’s promotion to the Premier League.
Daka, who scored 7 goals in 20 appearances for the Foxes, with 15 as starts, is yet to finalize his plans for the upcoming season.
“Leicester’s return to the EPL could be a compelling reason for him to stay,” said Kanoute, a former West Ham striker.
While Daka is inclined to remain at Leicester, there are rumors that Enzo Maresca, Leicester’s manager, is looking to bolster the striker position.
Daka, signed by Brendan Rodgers, has netted 16 league goals in total (7 in the Championship and 9 in the EPL). However, the prospect of Leicester acquiring another striker might prompt Daka to consider other options. Kanoute noted, “If he has other opportunities, that could be good for him. Maybe he will have more chances to shine elsewhere, but these decisions will need to be discussed later.”
Reflecting on Daka’s Championship season, Kanoute acknowledged its challenges. “It was a bit difficult. He started well, but there were ups and downs.
We would have liked him to play more, and all Zambians would have wished the same, but Leicester is a highly competitive team.”
Kanoute emphasized the learning experience from being on the bench, highlighting Daka’s ability to make a difference when called upon.
“Being on the bench sometimes means that when you come on, you have to make a difference, and he has played that role very well.”
