Solwezi Independence Stadium Approved by FAZ

The Football Association of Zambia (FAZ) has officially approved Solwezi’s Independence Stadium for use in MTN Super League matches following renovations funded by the FIFA Funded Stadia project. The renovation project, which began last year, utilized approximately $300,000 in funding.

Trident Football Club has enthusiastically announced the approval of Solwezi Independence Stadium by FAZ for MTN Super League matches. The club’s Executive Committee and loyal fans are thrilled by this long-awaited development.

Trident FC CEO Mvula Mangulenje expressed excitement, stating, “We have longed to see our team compete in the Super League within our province, and today, this wish becomes a reality.”

To celebrate, Trident FC has declared free entry for their next match against Red Arrows on Saturday, encouraging fans to support the team as they aim to establish Solwezi Independence Stadium as a formidable home ground.

Trident FC expressed gratitude to FIFA, FAZ, and the Regional Association for their support in making the stadium available to the people of the North Western Province.

The renovations included improvements to the pitch, dressing rooms, stands, and other critical areas. The David Kaunda Stadium in Chipata was the first to undergo extensive renovation with FIFA Forward support, handed over to the Government in September last year.

Additionally, two other FIFA Forward-supported projects are currently underway in Zambia, including the renovation of stadiums in Kasama and Kaole, along with the refurbishment of the FAZ’s accommodation center.
