Malawi’s Grievin Stanford Emerges Victorious in 2023 Billiards Cafe 100K Championship
In a display of exceptional skill and sportsmanship, Grievin Stanford from Malawi secured victory in the 2023 Billiards Cafe 100K Championship, held at Billiards Cafe from November 25 to 26. Stanford’s outstanding performance earned him the championship title, K50,000 in prize money, and a prestigious trophy.
The Singles tournament brought together top-notch talent from across Africa, with participants hailing from Malawi, Uganda, Zimbabwe, South Africa, Tanzania, and the host country, Zambia. The competition showcased the diverse and competitive nature of billiards in the region.
The runner-up position was claimed by Ibra Sajeemba from Uganda, who demonstrated remarkable prowess throughout the tournament. Sajeemba received K25,000 in prize money and a well-deserved trophy for his achievements. Ugandan player Chandinga Ceasar secured the third position, earning K10,000 along with a trophy.
Zimbabwean participant Tendai Mubaiwa displayed skill and determination, securing the fourth prize of K10,000. The fifth to eighth prizes were claimed by Zambian players: Victor Sinyinza, Chileshe Mubanga, Moses Chishimba, and Zahid Mushinkin, each receiving K2,500 for their commendable performances.
Tesfa Shikombwe, the General Secretary of the Zambia Pool Union, extended heartfelt congratulations to all the players, emphasizing the wealth of talent present in Africa’s cue sports community. The tournament not only highlighted individual achievements but also fostered a sense of camaraderie and healthy competition among participants.
The Zambia Pool Union CEO expressed gratitude to the tournament sponsors and called upon the corporate sector to continue supporting cue sports in the country. The aim is to elevate the sport to its highest potential through collaborative efforts, providing opportunities for players to excel on both national and international stages.
