Emmanuel Banda Owns Up to Defeat – No Excuses
Chipolopolo midfielder Emmanuel Banda has acknowledged the team’s unexpected 2-1 defeat to Niger in Morocco on Tuesday without making any excuses.
Expressing his disappointment on social media, Banda emphasized that the team intends to use this setback as a platform for improvement leading up to the 2023 Ivory Coast Africa Cup of Nations.
Banda described the loss in Morocco as a bitter experience for the players, suggesting that perhaps the team’s recent successful streak had led to a sense of complacency before facing the West African nation.
Despite the defeat, the Rijeka midfielder emphasized the importance of not offering any excuses but rather using the outcome as motivation to enhance their performance.
In his social media post, Banda reflected on the team’s recent positive run and acknowledged that it might have influenced their mindset going into the match.
However, he remained optimistic about the team’s capabilities, expressing a strong belief in their ability to bounce back.
Banda referred to the defeat as a wake-up call and stressed the team’s commitment to improvement.
Zambia suffered the surprising 2-1 loss against Niger at Marrakech Stadium, following their initial victory over Congo in Group E. Amadou Moutari and Boubakar Goumy scored for Niger, while Patson Daka managed to secure one for Chipolopolo.
