Zambian Judokas Steven Mung’andu and Simon Zulu have achieved remarkable success, clinching gold medals at the Dakar African Open 2023 in Senegal. Both athletes demonstrated exceptional skill and determination in their respective categories, with Mung’andu triumphing in the -66kg category and Zulu securing gold in the -60kg category.Alfred Foloko, President of the National Olympic Committee of Zambia (NOCZ) and head of the Judo Association of Zambia, commended Mung’andu and Zulu for their outstanding performances. He expressed pride in their achievements, highlighting the significance of their gold medals on the continental stage.Foloko also announced that the victorious pair would be granted a well-deserved holiday in Zambia before gearing up for the upcoming competitions in 2024. These competitions serve as qualifiers for the Paris 2024 Olympic Games.
