ZESCO United Wins 2026 ZRA Most Consistent On-Time Filer Award
ZESCO United Football Club has been recognised for its financial discipline and commitment to tax compliance after winning the 2026 Zambia Revenue Authority (ZRA) Most Consistent On-Time Filer Award.
The Ndola-based club emerged as the winner in its category, beating fellow nominees Universal Car Dealers Association Limited and Mukuba Pensions Trust.
The award was presented during the 2026 Taxpayer Appreciation Day held in Kitwe on Tuesday, November 3, in recognition of ZESCO United’s consistency in meeting tax filing deadlines and fulfilling its statutory obligations.
Commenting on the achievement, Club Board Chairperson Patricia Musiya said the recognition reflected the institution’s commitment to good governance, accountability and sound financial management.
“This recognition is a testament to our commitment to good governance, sound financial management and accountability.
“As a football institution, we recognise that our responsibility goes beyond the game. Through prudent sports management, financial discipline and fulfilling our statutory obligations, we are contributing to the broader national development agenda and the Government’s Grow Zambia Agenda,” Musiya said.
She added that the award reinforced the club’s commitment to meeting established football governance standards, particularly FIFA and CAF club licensing requirements, which emphasise financial transparency, administrative capacity and institutional accountability.
“By consistently meeting its tax filing obligations and maintaining responsible financial practices, ZESCO United Football Club continues to demonstrate its commitment to the governance and financial standards expected of a professionally managed football club,” the Board Chairperson said.
Meanwhile, Copperbelt Province Permanent Secretary Lawrence Mwanza, speaking at the event, emphasised the importance of accountability in the management of public resources.
ZRA Deputy Commissioner Levy Simatimbe also encouraged taxpayers facing challenges in meeting their tax obligations to engage the authority and seek solutions through dialogue.
The recognition adds to ZESCO United’s institutional achievements, highlighting the importance of sound financial management and accountability alongside its activities on the football pitch.
