Zambian Winger Lameck Banda Recovers from Successful Knee Surgery

Italian club US Lecce has confirmed that Zambian winger Lameck Banda underwent a successful knee surgery, providing a positive update on his recovery process. Banda, who has been plagued by injuries this season, recently missed national team duty due to knee pain.

In an official statement on their website, US Lecce announced that Banda underwent arthroscopic surgery on his right knee at the Villa Fiorita clinic in Perugia, performed by Professor Giuliano Cerulli and supervised by the club’s medical director, Dr. Giuseppe Congedo. The surgery involved cleaning the patella, and the integrity of other anatomical structures such as menisci, ligaments, and cartilage was confirmed.

The statement further mentioned that the surgery was a complete success, and Banda’s recovery time is estimated at 45-50 days. While this timeline puts him in a race against time to be fit for Zambia’s crucial World Cup qualifiers against Morocco and Tanzania in June, the news of the successful surgery is welcomed by both club and country.

Banda’s return to full fitness will not only benefit US Lecce but also provide Zambia with the services of the speedy winger, known for tormenting opposition defenders with his pace and skill on the pitch.
