Zambia’s U17 Girls defender, Margret Gondwe, has highlighted the significance of teamwork as the team prepares for the first leg of the Chile 2024 World Cup qualifier against Tanzania. The match is scheduled to take place at Nkoloma Stadium in Lusaka on February 3rd.
Gondwe, an experienced player who has previously represented the national team in the Cosafa tournament, emphasized the need for unity within the team. “We need to work together and push one another and understand each other on how we are going to play against Tanzania,” she stated from Edwin Imboela Stadium on Friday.
Despite not having faced Tanzania in previous encounters, Gondwe expressed confidence in the team’s ability to secure a victory. “I haven’t played against Tanzania before, but we are confident that we will beat them,” she asserted. Her commitment extends to motivating teammates, encouraging them to put in extra effort during training and heed the guidance of the coaching staff.
“I will encourage them to work extra hard when we go for training and listen to coaches on what they are saying,” added Gondwe, who plays for the Luyando Foundation Sports Academy as a defender/striker.
Gondwe also reached out to the fans, urging them to continue supporting the team as they prepare for this crucial World Cup qualifier match. The collaborative effort of the players, coaching staff, and the support of the fans will be vital as Zambia aims for success in the upcoming qualifier.
