Zambia U-15 Football Teams Shine with Impressive 10-1 Victory Over Angola in COSAFA Qualifiers

In a remarkable display of talent, Zambia’s Under-15 football teams secured a resounding 10-1 aggregate victory against Angola during the 2023 CAF African Schools Football Championship COSAFA Qualifiers.

The boys’ team demonstrated their prowess with a 2-1 victory, while the girls’ squad showcased exceptional dominance, securing an impressive 8-0 win against their Angolan counterparts.

In the subsequent fixtures, the girls’ team continued their winning streak with a 3-0 victory over Madagascar. However, the boys’ team faced a tough challenge and narrowly lost to Madagascar with a score of 2-1.

Key highlights of the matches included a remarkable hat-trick by Presida Katongo, earning her the Player of the Match Award. Naomi Banda also contributed significantly with a hat-trick, and Christine Mwale scored twice.

Despite facing initial travel challenges that led to missing their first match, both Zambia U-15 teams displayed outstanding skills upon joining the tournament. The girls’ team secured the third position in Group B, while the boys settled for the fourth spot.

South Africa has successfully advanced to the finals, with the boys’ team set to compete against Malawi, and the girls’ team poised to challenge Botswana for the coveted prize money. The success of Zambia U-15 teams reflects the promising talent emerging from the country’s youth football scene.
