Zambia U-15 Boys Ready for Moroccan Challenge, Says Coach Kawangu

Zambia’s U-15 boys’ national team head coach, Aaron Kawangu, has emphasized the importance of maintaining a balanced approach and avoiding undue pressure on the young players ahead of their upcoming matches against their Moroccan counterparts. Following the team’s inaugural training session in Morocco on Wednesday, Kawangu stressed the developmental nature of the setup, highlighting the need for meticulous organization to enhance their chances of success. He emphasized, “This is a developmental setup. We need to be as organized as possible to give ourselves a chance. We can’t put too much pressure on these boys. The most important thing is that as we play here, we don’t go back to Zambia the same way.”

Expressing optimism regarding the boys’ potential to excel on the international stage, Kawangu highlighted the opportunity for them to establish themselves in the realm of international football. He stated, “The boys need to make this opportunity a great entry into international football. We believe as a technical bench that they will put up a good show, and it’s our task to ensure they do so.”

The team is scheduled to participate in their inaugural friendly match on Friday, March 22nd, followed by another encounter three days later. Coach Kawangu reassured regarding the team’s fitness, confirming the absence of injuries and affirming the readiness of all players for the upcoming matches. “All the players are fit. We have enough players to rotate and play these games,” he affirmed.

Additionally, Kawangu acknowledged the pivotal role played by clubs and academies in nurturing player development, emphasizing the significance of the training and exposure provided by these institutions. “At the national team level, we don’t have much time, so we mostly depend on what the clubs do with the players,” he elucidated. “We fully depend on the training and exposure they get from the academies, and kudos to the clubs for their role in grooming players.”

As the Zambia U-15 boys’ national team prepares for their engagements in Morocco, Coach Kawangu’s prudent approach and confidence in the players set a positive tone for an exciting and promising outing on the international stage.
