Zambia Must Dramatically Improve Preparation To Reach World Cup Again, Says Barbra Banda

Barbra Banda has issued a clear warning that Zambia must drastically improve their preparation standards if they hope to qualify for the FIFA Women’s World Cup again.

The Copper Queens delivered an inconsistent performance at the recent FIFA Series, finishing the invitational tournament with a 1-1 draw against South Korea after earlier suffering heavy losses to Canada and the hosts, Brazil.

While the results were far from ideal, Banda believes the experience could still prove valuable as the team looks ahead.

According to the star forward, the matches exposed critical areas that need urgent attention before Zambia embarks on a decisive continental qualifying campaign.

She emphasized that simply participating in high-level friendlies is not enough the team must translate those lessons into tangible improvements in tactics, fitness, and mental resilience.

Banda remains hopeful that facing world-class opposition will ultimately help the Copper Queens raise their game when it matters most, but she made it clear that only a major step up in preparation will secure another World Cup berth.

“For us to go back to the World Cup, it will take a lot because we need to build our team very well,” Banda said. “We need to prepare adequately going into the WAFCON because those are the games that are going to determine if we’re going to qualify.”

We just need good preparations,” she added. “We need an early camp, proper team organisation and everything. The team is there we have quality players all we need is good preparation

The quality of games that we played are very good for us because these are high-profile teams that we are supposed to learn from,” she said. “From my experience, I’ve learned from each of the teams we’ve faced.

Not the result we wanted, but I think we’ve done well,” Banda noted. “We dominated the game and just need to concentrate more in key moments.

To the fans, please continue supporting us,” she said. “We’ll keep working hard and surely get good results.
