Zambia Hockey Boys and Girls Set to Participate in Olympic Solidarity Youth Athlete Development Programme in Malaysia
Lusaka, Zambia – The Zambia Hockey Association has sent a talented group of athletes to Malaysia to take part in the prestigious Olympic Solidarity Youth Athlete Development Programme. Eight boys and eight girls, alongside delegation leader Mr. Floyd Chomba, officials Ms. Rita Katoka and Mr. Abraham Chaya, and coach Mr. Godfrey Lwando, left Zambia yesterday for the exciting international event.
The athletes are set to engage in various development activities, aimed at enhancing their skills and knowledge in the sport. In addition to this, the team has also been invited to participate in the Asian Tournament, which will take place on December 21, 2024.
This unique opportunity has been made possible through collaboration between the International Hockey Federation (FIH), Olympic Solidarity, the Asian Hockey Federation, the Malaysian National Olympic Committee, the Malaysian Hockey Confederation, and the Raja Ashman Shah Hockey Academy. The FIH World Youth Hockey5s Festival, taking place in Ipoh, Malaysia from December 16 to 21, 2024, will provide young athletes from around the world with the chance to showcase their talent and build connections with other future stars of hockey.
The Zambia delegation is eager to make the most of this developmental opportunity, and the tournament promises to be a valuable experience for the athletes, helping to shape the future of hockey in Zambia and on the global stage.
