YANGA SC Extends Dominance with Narrow Community Shield Win Over Simba SC

Young Africans secured a spot in the final of the Tanzania Community Shield by defeating their arch-rivals, Simba SC, 1-0 on Thursday evening.

This victory marks Yanga SC’s continued dominance over Simba SC, with three consecutive wins.

The decisive goal came in the 44th minute from Maxi Nzengeli, who capitalized on a well-coordinated play involving Pacome Zouzoua and Prince Dube to slip the ball past Simba’s goalkeeper.

Former Power Dynamos winger Joshua ‘Budo’ Mutale was a standout for Simba, posing a constant threat to Yanga SC’s defense, though his final delivery was lacking.

Meanwhile, Kennedy Musonda and Clatous Chota Chama started the match on the bench for Young Africans.

This win brings Yanga SC’s tally to 41 victories in 112 matches against Simba since 1965, with Simba winning 32 times and 40 matches ending in draws.

Yanga SC will now face Azam FC in the final on Sunday, following Azam’s thrilling 5-2 triumph over Coastal Union.
