Utilize your positive moments urges Nchimunya Mweetwa to athletes.

Former Zambian forward Nchimunya Mweetwa emphasizes the importance of seizing opportunities in football when players are in good health. Mweetwa, who experienced the unpredictable nature of the sport, stresses that players should capitalize on their prime moments.

Reflecting on his own journey, Mweetwa recounts a significant episode with Rovaniemi Palloseura (RoPs) in 2007.

After achieving remarkable success in the league and earning promotion to the premier league in Finland, he garnered attention from various European clubs, including a major French team. However, the proposed move hinged on a condition—he needed to score seven goals in the upcoming premier league season.

Mweetwa’s initial success led to positive talks with the French club, but fate took an unexpected turn. In a crucial match, just before halftime, he suffered a severe injury to his right knee, breaking half of his cartilage and tearing a meniscus due to a collision with a French defender. Despite the setback, the French club expressed support and left with well-wishes for his recovery. Regrettably, that marked the end of their communication.

Undeterred, Mweetwa persevered through a two-year recovery period and returned to near-peak form, once again becoming the top scorer for his club. His story serves as a poignant reminder applicable not only in sports but in life—individuals are valued when they have something to offer.

The lesson is clear: make the most of favorable circumstances, as opportunities in both sports and life may be fleeting. “Make Hay while the sun is still shining.”
