Tanzanian Giants Add Former Zambia Coach to Technical Setup

Former Zambia national team coach Honor Janza has been appointed Technical Director of Tanzanian giants Simba SC, with the club confirming his arrival on Tuesday, October 27, 2026.

The appointment marks a new chapter in Janza’s career, bringing his experience in coaching, football development and technical administration to one of Tanzania’s leading clubs.

Janza is familiar with Tanzanian football, having previously coached Namungo FC, whom he joined in December 2021. During his time there, he won the Tanzania Mainland Premier League Coach of the Month award once. He also served as interim head coach of the Tanzania national team, Taifa Stars, in August 2022.

In Zambia, Janza is best remembered for leading the Chipolopolo at the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations in Equatorial Guinea. Appointed head coach in August 2014, he guided the national team through the qualifying campaign before leaving the position in March 2015.

He subsequently returned to the Football Association of Zambia (FAZ) as Technical Director, a role he held until January 2017, when he took charge of Red Arrows. He later joined NAPSA Stars as Technical Director in September 2020 and also served as the club’s Chief Executive Officer.

Janza was appointed ZESCO United Technical Director in December 2022 on a three-year contract. He returned to the Ndola-based club in June 2025 on a two-year deal, overseeing the senior men’s and women’s teams alongside the youth structures.

Beyond his club and national team roles, Janza holds a top-level coaching licence from the Confederation of African Football (CAF) and serves as a FIFA coaching instructor.

Days before his Simba SC appointment, he conducted coaching education sessions at the Tanzania Football Federation Technical Centre in Mnyanjani, Tanga.

His arrival gives Simba an experienced football administrator and coach as the club strengthens its technical structure.
