Striker Patson Daka Joins HSV

Patson Daka has completed a move to German club Hamburger SV (HSV), bringing an end to his five-year stay at Leicester City. The Zambian international joins the Bundesliga side after successfully completing his medical and signing his contract during the club’s pre-season camp in Austria. He will wear the No. 27 jersey as he begins a fresh chapter in his career.

HSV believe Daka’s pace, movement, and relentless work ethic will add a new dimension to their attack. Club officials described the 27-year-old as a striker who thrives both on and off the ball, with the ability to press aggressively, stretch opposition defenses, and contribute selflessly to the team’s overall performance. They are confident his experience at both club and international level will make an immediate impact.

Born in Kafue, Zambia, Daka rose through the ranks at Nchanga Rangers before making his breakthrough in Austria with FC Liefering and Red Bull Salzburg. His outstanding spell at Salzburg produced 68 goals in 125 appearances, four Austrian Bundesliga titles, three Austrian Cups, and the league’s Golden Boot in the 2020/21 season. Those performances earned him a move to Leicester City, where he became the first Zambian to score in the Premier League and later made history by scoring four goals in a UEFA Europa League match against Spartak Moscow.

Speaking after the transfer, Daka said he was excited to begin his journey with HSV and looked forward to helping the team achieve its goals.
