Prisca Chilufya’s Goal Seals Juarez’s Big Win over Santos.

Zambia Women’s National Team winger Prisca Chilufya delivered a stunning performance, netting a spectacular goal, as Juarez Femenil dominated Santos Laguna with a resounding 5-1 victory on match day 5 at the Estadio Olímpico Benito Juarez in the Mexican Liga BBVA MX Femenil.

Chilufya made her mark by opening the scoring for Juarez in the 25th minute, aligning perfectly with her jersey number (25). This goal marked her second of the season, accompanied by an assist in five appearances. Jasmine Casarez extended the lead with the second goal just before halftime, securing a comfortable 2-0 advantage for the Bravas.

The second half witnessed a relentless offensive display by Juarez, with Alondra Blanco adding a third goal in the 56th minute, followed by Brazilian Yuki Watari making her mark on the scoresheet in the 64th minute. Norma Palafox then sealed the emphatic victory with a fifth goal in the 70th minute. Although Garcia managed to score a consolation goal for Santos 13 minutes later, it was too little, too late for the visitors, resulting in a disappointing 5-1 defeat to Juarez.

With this victory, Juarez secured the fifth position in the league standings with a total of 8 points. In contrast, Santos languished in the eighteenth position with only one point.

Looking ahead, Prisca Chilufya is expected to be a crucial part of the Zambia Women’s National Team, set to face Ghana next month in a pivotal back-to-back assignment in the penultimate round of the Paris 2024 Olympic Qualifiers. The overall winner of this stage will advance to face either Morocco or Tunisia in the final round of qualifiers before the Summer Olympic Games.
