Patson Daka Aiming for Premier League Redemption & Says ‘IF I MAKE IT BACK TO THE PREMIER LEAGUE, I’LL BE A DIFFERENT PLAYER’
Leicester City striker Patson Daka is setting his sights on redemption in the Premier League, confident that he has evolved into a “different player” since his previous stint in the top flight. With Leicester leading the Championship table and on course for promotion, Daka believes he’s undergone significant growth since his arrival from Red Bull Salzburg in 2021, where he struggled to make an impact.
“In the Premier League, I can show more,” Daka expressed to The Athletic. “I have gained experience and adapted to a different style of play. It’s fast and physical, but now I feel prepared for it. I would approach it as a different player now.”
While Leicester City is enjoying a successful campaign under Brendan Rodgers, Daka remains cautious about getting ahead of themselves. “The season is going well for the club, and it seems like we’re on track for promotion,” he acknowledged. “But we must stay grounded. There are still many games to play.”
Daka faced adversity earlier in the season when his full debut was delayed until December due to a failed transfer move to Bournemouth. Despite the setback, he maintained a positive outlook. “It wasn’t easy, but I received great support from my family and friends, and I stayed positive,” he revealed.
His optimistic mindset has translated into success on the pitch, with Daka showcasing his talent by scoring seven goals and providing three assists in just ten games since his December debut. Reflecting on his journey, he sees the delay as a period of growth and preparation for his current success.
“With each setback, I told myself, ‘What if I played earlier and didn’t perform?'” Daka reflected. “Perhaps, it was all part of a plan for me to grow and improve. Now, it’s my time to shine.”
With Leicester City poised for a return to the Premier League and Daka in scintillating form, the stage is set for his redemption in the top flight. As he continues to evolve as a player, his resurgence could mark a new chapter in his footballing journey.
