Nora Häuptle Appointed Head Coach of Zambia’s Copper Queens

The Football Association of Zambia (FAZ) has officially announced the appointment of Swiss coach Nora Häuptle as the new head coach of the Copper Queens, signing a three-year contract.

Häuptle’s appointment comes on the back of an impressive tenure with Ghana’s Black Queens, where she led the team to a successful qualification for the 2024 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) and guided them to victory in the 2023 WAFU Zone B Women’s Cup. Her experience, which includes coaching roles in Germany’s Frauen-Bundesliga and her recent achievements with Ghana, makes her a highly regarded figure in women’s football.

The decision to hire Häuptle marks a bold move for FAZ, as the Copper Queens continue to build on their recent successes. Under her leadership, FAZ hopes to further elevate the team’s performance with a focus on tactical discipline and youth development. Häuptle’s reputation for fostering young talent is expected to be a key asset as she seeks to strengthen the team’s foundation for the future.

The Copper Queens have already made history with a landmark FIFA Women’s World Cup debut in 2023 and secured back-to-back Olympic qualifications. FAZ is confident that Häuptle’s guidance will enable the team to continue their rapid growth and make a strong statement at the upcoming WAFCON in Morocco.

With her extensive experience and a proven track record of success, Nora Häuptle’s appointment as head coach is seen as a significant step in the Copper Queens’ journey toward becoming one of Africa’s premier women’s football teams.
