Ng’onga’s Scoring Achievement Earns Nomination for CAF Awards

Alex ‘Bazo’ Ng’onga, the Zambian forward, has earned a nomination for the prestigious CAF Goal of the Year award. Ng’onga’s remarkable goal against Real Bamako during a CAF Confederation Cup Group D stage clash in February has secured its place among the 12 outstanding goals contending for the CAF Awards 2023 Goal of the Year.

In the 38th minute of the match, Ng’onga showcased his skills by scoring a spectacular goal, putting Mazembe in the lead after Souleymane Coulibaly had equalized following Jephte Bola Kitambala’s opener.
The victory was sealed with a third goal by second-half substitute Patient Mwamba in the dying minutes, resulting in a 3-1 win.

A panel of experts meticulously selected these 12 extraordinary goals from various CAF competitions, and now football enthusiasts worldwide will play a crucial role in determining the winner. The public vote holds significant weight, contributing 70% to the decision-making process, making this award distinctive compared to other categories. The remaining 30% will be determined by CAF Technical Experts.

Voting, accessible via the CAF website, commenced yesterday and will continue until December 8, 2023. The winner of the CAF Goal of the Year award will be unveiled at the CAF Awards Gala on Monday, December 11, 2023, at the Palais des Congrès, Movenpick, Marrakech, Morocco.
